The Associated Press reported today that while Mejia was passing the Xray machine at the airport a packet containing white substance was found on him. He denied the packet was his;he claimed he was set up; and then he threw the packet away to the direction of the security officials.

The reaction of Mejia most likely would have angered the members of the syndicate comprised of airport police, technicians, etc operating in the airport mulcting, extorting innocent departing passengers by planting whatever they can claim to be illegal so they can be coerced to "settle" and avoid the inconvenience of missing their flights.Mejia, a true officer and gentleman, could have been infuriated of the scam being employed on him and decided to stand up and fight. The syndicate perhaps later knew Mejia was a US citizen and Navy officer who will in the future divulge the "modus operandi" decided to get rid of him by forcefully pushing him down the stairs after trying to silence him in the ASG office as indicated by the bruises discovered in his body.

I hope I am wrong. It is very difficult not to speculate on the circumstances surrounding this incident in view of the many conflicting reports and the bad reputation of many airport personnel. Ronald Singson was found in Hongkong carrying 26 grams of cocaine but was not detected of his cargo when he boarded in Manila. .03 gram was found on Mejia, incredible. Only in the Philippines.
